How to Convert Electric Heat Watts to BTUs

If you're replacing an electric heat system with another fuel source you will need to convert the old heaters kilowatts (kW) to BTUs.

How you calculate it

1 kilowatt equals 3412 BTUs.   Multiply kW by 3412 to get BTU's.

Example; 15kW electric heater X 3412 = 51180 BTUs.
